Candidate Carl Paladino yesterday predicted that the New York's governor's race will get nastier, and then proceeded to fulfill that prediction. The Republican alleged that his rival, Democrat Andrew Cuomo, had been unfaithful to his ex-wife, Robert Kennedy's daughter Kerry Kennedy. "Has anybody asked Andrew Cuomo about his paramours when he was married or asked him why his wife left him or threw him out of the house?" Paladino asked Politico. A Cuomo spokesman said the candidate is not going to "descend into the gutter" with Paladino and his campaign.

Paladino—who had earlier angrily declared that the love child he fathered during an affair was off-limits to the press—didn't offer any proof for the accusation. He later nearly came to blows with a reporter who questioned him about the claim. 'You send another goon to my daughter’s house and I’ll take you out, buddy," he threatened the New York Post's Fred Dicker. Aides had to separate the pair. (More Carl Paladino stories.)
