A Toronto man has been arrested for the murder of a student who was attacked as her boyfriend in Beijing watched helplessly via webcam. Qian Liu, 23, was found dead in her apartment after the boyfriend alerted her friends. Detectives are still seeking a missing webcam, laptop, and computer, the Toronto Star reports.

The boyfriend, who provided police with a detailed description of the attacker, says he was chatting with his girlfriend online when she heard a knock at the door. A man entered her apartment, asked for an embrace, and turned aggressive when she refused. “At that moment my mind went blank and I was cursing him from my webcam. I was so far away I couldn’t reach her. I felt so helpless and I couldn’t calm down until in the end the guy closed the computer,” he said. (More Qian Liu stories.)
