The rest of the political universe seems to think the race is pretty close, but the GOP's Dick Morris predicts a huge night for Mitt Romney and the GOP. In a column for the Hill headlined "Here comes the landslide," Morris maintains that the debates proved President Obama is "only a nitpicking, quarrelsome, negative figure," while Romney emerged as a "reasonable person for whom we could vote." This will not only turn swing states in Romney's favor, but it will carry over into Senate races, argues Morris.

"The most likely outcome? Eight GOP takeaways and two giveaways for a net gain of six. A 53-47 Senate, just like we have now, only opposite," he writes. "Barack Obama’s parting gift to the Democratic Party." All of which prompts David Weigel at Slate to wonder why the Hill keeps publishing Morris' columns. He "is engaging in pure flim-flam, scam artistry that he wants to use for TV appearances and newsletter subscriptions. Why it being published anywhere else?" Read Morris' column here, and Weigel's response here. (More Mitt Romney 2012 stories.)
