Who needs electoral reform when there's lots to watch online—particularly images and videos involving naked people? That may have been Joao Rodrigues' line of thought when the Brazilian politician was caught watching porn on his phone during a parliamentary debate, the Independent reports. Local media shot video of him scrolling through the material, and even showing it to colleagues, during a debate in the Chamber of Deputies (something like the US Congress). On the table beside him lay an invite to a Christian Mass at the central Bishops of Brazil location, providing "a contrast to the decidedly un-Christian film he was watching," the Telegraph reports.

On his Facebook page, Rodrigues says he was just combing through material from "nearly a hundred groups" on WhatsApp to "separate the wheat from the chaff," per the Mirror. Many people on Facebook seem to buy that, leaving him messages that the Independent describes as "overwhelmingly positive." Meanwhile, Brazilian journalists are reacting differently, with a female reporter calling Rodrigues' actions "flagrant" and the images "obscene," the Latin Times reports. Male reporters who interviewed Rodrigues, however, write that the Social Democratic Party member "wasn’t 100 percent focused during the extremely long debates on private finance re-election and other matters." (A US politician made headlines by sexting Anthony Weiner's old flame.)
