Christian Bale won a Golden Globe on Sunday night for his role as Dick Cheney in Vice, and he apparently had quite an interesting muse for his role as the VP. "Thank you Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role," he said, per Business Insider. Reaction on Twitter ranged from shocked memes to impressed memes to Liz Cheney tweeting an article about Bale's 2008 arrest for assault. Yes, as the Raw Story puts it, conservatives "lost their minds" over Bale's joke; the outlet rounds up outraged tweets from the right. Bale's acceptance speech was also making headlines due to his accent; some people simply forgot he's Welsh, but even people who knew and remembered that were confused by how he sounded. (Another acceptance speech involved a "50% women" challenge.)
