Could MacKenzie Bezos soon be the richest woman in the world? As Bloomberg explains, it's not yet clear what will happen to the couple's assets when Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos and wife MacKenzie, an author, divorce, but an expert says those assets will likely be divided equally. Jeff Bezos is currently the world's richest person, worth $137.2 billion, and half of that would be almost $69 billion—easily pushing MacKenzie Bezos above the world's current richest woman, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, the granddaughter of the founder of L'Oreal, who is worth $45.6 billion. NBC News explains that the couple married a year before Jeff Bezos founded Amazon, and their home state of Washington has community property laws, which would give MacKenzie a claim to half the fortune.
