Luke Perry, the beloved star of Beverly Hills, 90210, and Riverdale, is dead at age 52. TMZ reports the actor never recovered after suffering a massive stroke at his Sherman Oaks, Calif., home Wednesday morning. He died Monday morning surrounded by family and friends including his children, his fiancee, his ex-wife, his mother and stepfather, and his brother and sister, the actor's rep confirms to USA Today. "The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning," the rep says.

Perry came to Hollywood from Ohio, and after his breakout role as Dylan McKay on 90210, he played varied roles from a preacher on HBO's Oz to the titular character in Showtime's dystopian Jeremiah to voicing various cartoon characters. Shannen Doherty, who played his 90210 love interest Brenda Walsh, got emotional while discussing Perry's condition with ETOnline Sunday. "I can't talk about it 'cause I will literally start crying but I love him and he knows I love him. And I'm in contact, and ... it's Luke, and he's my Dylan." (Many celebs had showered Perry with support.)
