Clothing, cosmetics may make up school's budget shortfalls

Beverly Hills High School is considering starting lines of clothing and cosmetics in an attempt to capitalize on the glamorous image perpetuated by television’s 90210 series and famous alumni like Angelina Jolie. A smaller population of school-aged children in the neighborhood has sapped the tax base, leaving it with budget gaps, Forbes reports.

“There’s probably not many high schools that could really develop an international appeal,” said the CEO of Creative Brands, who notes that clothing lines for “Camp Beverly Hills” and “Beverly Hills Polo Club”—neither of which actually exist—sell exceedingly well in Asia. It is expected that a licensing deal could bring in up to a few million a year, especially if famous graduates get involved. (More Beverly Hills stories.)
