Paris Hilton will sing in a big-screen rock opera, playing an evil mogul’s daughter in a futuristic drama about organ transplants. She beat out "at least 30 actresses" who auditioned for the role in Repo! The Genetic Opera, the director tells Variety. “Paris came in and owned it," says Darren Lynn Bousman. "She is this role.”

The gig will be Hilton’s first since leaving jail; in the wake of the cancellation of "The Simple Life," it ensures her pop-culture presence for at least a few more multiples of 15 minutes. She has appeared in films including House of Wax and Raising Helen, and her self-titled album reached No. 6 on US music charts last year. (More Paris Hilton stories.)
