Tillman's Mom Wants Hearings On Cover-Up
Former Arizona Cardinals football player Pat Tillman, is shown in a June 2003 file photo, released by Photography Plus. Investigators probing the friendly fire death in Afghanistan of former football star Pat Tillman found no criminal negligence, a government official said Monday, March 26, 2007.    (Associated Press)

Congress should investigate the Army's cover-up of Pat Tillman's friendly-fire death, his mother told ESPN Radio yesterday. A military inquiry concluded Monday that nine high-ranking military officials would face "corrective action," not criminal charges, for their role in claiming Tillman was killed by enemy fire long after they knew otherwise.

"That was not a misstep, that was not an error," says Tillman, who believes the Army was trying to use her son's death to boost recruitment. "This was an attempt to dupe the public and to promote this war and to get recruitments up, and that is immoral."  Democrat Mike Honda, Tillman's representative, has filed a formal request for hearings.
