It's the "crossover no one saw coming"—an ex-US president and a hit TV series. That's what Parade says happened in and outside of the restaurant Parc in Philly, where Amazon Prime Video's Reacher happened to be filming, and where former President Biden and his son Hunter Biden decided to have some breakfast on Monday. Photographer Hugh E. Dillon tells CBS News he was parked outside the eatery and taking pictures of the Reacher crew recording a police chase scene when he happened to document a "very bizarre" moment: black SUVs pulling up to the curb, then applause.
"Out walked these men ... I thought they were actors, but then the entire cast and crew started clapping and cheering," Dillon said. "Then someone said, 'We love you, Joe, we love you!'" It was former President Biden, there for a meal with his son, and Dillon says the two men remained inside the restaurant for about an hour. When the Bidens finally emerged, the former president took the time to pose for selfies with fans and meet the cast and crew.
Alan Ritchson, the actor who plays title character Jack Reacher in the series, posted some video and pictures of him meeting with the Bidens inside. "Was a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family," he wrote on Instagram, calling the men "legends." "They couldn't have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious and present." As for what they talked about? "We chatted briefly about simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement," Ritchson wrote. "Then Joe beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day's work."
