(AP Photo/Richard Drew) Strong earnings from Apple and a high consumer-confidence reading weren't enough to sustain gains through the close today, as investors awaited news from a two-day Fed meeting on interest rates that started today, the Wall Street Journal reports. The Dow lost 3 points to close at 10,194. The Nasdaq fell 7 points, settling at 2,204. The S&P 500 dropped 5 points, closing at 1,092.
