The Real IRA says it has regrouped, and plans to intensify its terrorist campaign, targeting “military, political, and economic targets,” including banks both in Ireland and in England. In an interview with the Guardian, the group trotted out a new anti-capitalist message, calling bankers “criminals,” and promising to attack them. “Let’s not forget that the bankers are the next-door neighbors of the politicians,” the group said. “The bankers grease the politicians’ palms, the politicians bail out the banks … It’s essentially a crime spree.”

The group has a scant 100 members, and security forces doubt it has the logistical resources for a major terror spree. But the group, which is known to possess explosives, insists that it’s strong, saying it’s turning away eager volunteers because it can’t accommodate them. “We are confident that we will increase the volume and effectiveness of attacks,” they write.
