Awful New Reality Show: Brides Vie for Plastic Surgery

Just when you thought reality shows couldn't possibly get more awful, E! orders Bridalplasty. The show will feature brides-to-be competing to win plastic surgery procedures. "Extensive surgical procedures," as the Hollywood Reporter puts it (emphasis ours). The wedding-related challenges will include writing vows and planning honeymoons, and the winner gets a procedure from her "wish list." This, apparently, is each woman's "chance to be the perfect bride," according to the show description.

The best—er, worst—part: The results of the surgery will be revealed at the wedding. Yes, even the man with whom the winner is about to spend the rest of her life will be clueless as to her new face up until the big day. "Viewers will witness his emotional and possibly shocked reaction as they stand at the altar and he lifts her veil to see her for the first time following her extreme plastic surgery," E! says. "Because nothing says 'let's spend our lives in a loving and committed relationship' like, 'Oh, hi, how do you like my brand-new cat face?,'" Willa Paskin blogs for New York.
