Jon Stewart Kicks Off DC Week

Jon Stewart kicked off the Daily Show’s week in Washington, DC, by weighing in on—what else?—the Juan Williams-NPR controversy. The obvious problem? Williams violated NPR’s “never-say-anything-interesting policy,” says correspondent Samantha Bee. And, considering Fox News was quick to jump all over NPR as soon as it all hit the fan, Stewart noted, “NPR, you just brought a totebag full of David Sedaris books to a knife fight.”

Stewart and the correspondents also gently mocked the Capitol (Jason Jones got stuck in a “six-lane traffic circle” that “leads to another goddamn traffic circle,” and John Oliver noted, “I would rather be back in Iraq.”) and, of course, talked about Saturday’s Rally to Restore Sanity. What part of Saturday is Stewart most excited about, an audience member wonders? His answer, via the Washington Post: “Flying home.”
