Women in 20s Should Freeze Ovaries: Doctor

Young women should freeze sections of their ovaries for use later in life, a fertility expert has proposed. The doctor who performed the world's first full ovary transplant is promoting a procedure in which women in their 20's would have up to a third of an ovary removed and frozen. It would capture about 60,000 eggs, giving a woman a greater chance of conception than with traditional egg freezing when the time comes, the Independent explains.

"Maybe women are being misled into thinking one cycle of egg freezing is going to give them security—and that's absolutely not true," said Dr. Sherman Silber. The medical establishment, however, has yet to embrace Silber's procedure, with many experts of the opinion that the procedure needs more testing.
