Americans Aren't Voting for Republicans...

Republicans will send more legislators to Congress tomorrow than at any time in the past 80 years, predicts pollster Scott Rasmussen in an op-ed in today’s Wall Street Journal. That’s in part because Democrats ignored all the warning signs over the past two years—“at least the captain of the Titanic tried to miss the iceberg. Congressional Democrats aimed right for it,” he quips. “But none of this means that Republicans are winning.”

“The reality is that voters in 2010 are doing the same thing they did in 2006 and 2008: They are voting against the party in power,” he continues. In fact, you can track this dissatisfied trend all the way to 1992. “Voters today want hope and change every bit as much as in 2008. But most have come to recognize that if we have to rely on politicians for change, there is no hope.” Republicans would do well to remember two things when they wake up on Wednesday: They didn’t win; Democrats lost.
