Victory appears close for Alaska Senate write-in candidate Lisa Murkowski, but the official results won't likely be known for weeks. Write-in votes are currently leading, but it will take officials some time to count them all—and make certain voters followed the rules when filling out their choices. Some 40% of voters picked the write-in option, and most likely chose Murkowski, who spent more than $1 million telling voters to "fill it in, write in."
Democratic candidate Scott McAdams is trailing with some 24% of the vote and Tea Partier Joe Miller has pulled in some 35%. Miller isn't conceding and may be steeling for a possible court fight, reports the Anchorage Daily News. If Murkowski wins, she'll be the second write-in candidate to ever win a spot in the Senate. The official write-in tally will begin Nov. 18 and is scheduled to last three days.
