Politics / Jim Morrison Charlie Crist to Pardon Jim Morrison? Door's open: 'anything possible' before Crist leaves office By Matt Cantor, Newser Staff Posted Nov 8, 2010 6:45 AM CST Copied Florida Gov. (AP Photo/Chris O'Meara) His Senate bid may have failed, but outgoing Florida Gov. Charlie Crist may still make his mark ... on rock and roll history: He’s considering pardoning Jim Morrison for indecent exposure charges at a 1969 concert. “It's something I’m willing to look into in the time I have left,” Crist told the Hill. “Anything is possible.” Doors fans have long sought vindication for their hero. Morrison was found guilty of indecent exposure and profanity following what appeared to be a drunken performance in Miami. But “there was some doubt about how solid the case was,” said Crist in 2007. Both the governor and the rocker are Florida State alumni, a fact that’s working in Morrison’s favor. Crist is “the only governor in Florida that's even acknowledged this effort at all, and we appreciate his time,” said a campaigner for Morrison. (More Jim Morrison stories.) Report an error
