Bristol Palin has apologized, sort of, for the gay slurs her sister posted on Facebook after a schoolmate criticized their mom's reality show. "Willow and I shouldn't have reacted to negative comments about our family. We apologize.," wrote Bristol on Facebook. Her contrition was somewhat tempered by her added comment that the "haters are pulling out all the stops to destroy" us. A right-wing gay group, meanwhile, stepped up to defend Willow and her slurs.

"The 'slur' used is one you could hear on the streets of West Hollywood or Chelsea every day of the week," a spokesman for GOProud told TMZ. "Apparently, it's only a homophobic slur when it comes from the daughter of a conservative female leader.” The organization recently signed a Tea Party letter to the GOP urging it to downplay social issues in Congress. "When they were out in the Boston Harbor, they weren't arguing about who was gay or who was having an abortion," said a spokesman for Tea Party Patriots, who also signed the letter.
