Your First Friend Lied About His Age

He was your first friend. And now Tom Anderson, MySpace’s co-founder, is a liar, Newsweek reports. Tom's profile says he's 32, and he claims to have been 27 when he launched the social networking site. But public records reveal he'll be 37 next month. Could Tom have made the same fortune sans the kiddie cred?

“Young people don't want someone their dad's age running a site they think is cool,” said Mashable founder Pete Cashmore. MySpace refused to comment or to confirm Tom’s birthday. News Corp. bought MySpace for $580 million, but Tom has continued his duties. "Tom was my first friend," said one disappointed MySpacer. "It's kind of messed up that he lied to me."
