Police probing the mysterious murder of movie publicist Ronni Chasen now believe the killing was planned, and not the result of road rage or a carjacking, sources tell the Hollywood Reporter. Beverly Hills police suspect Chasen was killed by shots fired from a vehicle that pulled up beside her Mercedes as she made a turn onto Sunset Boulevard, the sources say. Police haven't yet determined a motive.

"We know it's not some sort of sniper shooting from across the street—ridiculous theories we can discount," a sergeant says. "We haven't ruled anything out within reason." Police are reviewing 911 calls made around the time of the shooting early Tuesday morning and examining security camera footage. Sources say relevant footage has been obtained from cameras outside the home of Sherry Hackett, widow of the late comedian Buddy Hackett. Click here for more on the case.
