Sarah Palin Zings Michelle Over Right to Eat S'Mores
Chocolate, marshmallow, graham crackers and controversy.   (?MissMessie)

Sarah Palin used her reality show to get down to a particularly sticky political issue: the right to eat s'mores. The ex-gov took a direct shot at the First Lady's campaign against childhood obesity as she rummaged in her kitchen cabinet for s'mores ingredients (chocolate bars, graham crackers, and marshmallows) and grumbled: "This is in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert." In case anyone missed it, her words were superimposed on the TV screen. The fat battle has become a weighty topic for Palin, who sees Michelle's campaign against kid obesity as one more example of a too-intrusive "nanny" government, and believes food choices should be left to American parents.

But does Palin's zinger nudge Sarah Palin's Alaska into the prime-time political arena, and violate balanced coverage requirements for political candidates? Nope, notes ABC's John Berman. The regulations don't cover cable programs and only apply to declared candidates. "Right now, there is no official race for anything, and Palin isn’t an official candidate for anything," Berman adds. "She can say what she wants, where she wants and when she wants." So belly up to the campfire.
