5 Reasons to See Nic Cage's 'Worst Movie Ever'

Nicolas Cage has been in a lot of bad movies, but if you believe critics, Season of the Witch is his most egregious stinker yet. Audiences seem to agree—it made only $10 million this weekend, despite scant competition. But the Atlantic Wire thinks you should see it anyway, if only because:

  • It appears to use leftover sets from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Something that mimics the old Bridge of Death rope bridge makes an appearance, though Kyle Smith of the New York Post suggests that’s all the more reason to run away.

  • It looks like a Uwe Boll flick. Who doesn’t love the so-bad-it’s-good over-the-top fun that the “hack-tastic” Boll routinely provides? Sure Andre Baker of Variety called it “too inert for midnight-movie schadenfruedists” but come on, there are flying zombie monks for crying out loud.
  • It’ll make you nostalgic for Dungeons and Dragons. “Better hope you make a high saving throw during the wolf attack in Wormwood Forest!” says MaryAnn Johanson of Flick Filosopher. Although what you’re saving against might be a sleep effect—the movie is “both unpleasantly preposterous and mind-numbingly boring.”
