Two Los Angeles high school students were wounded when a gun accidentally discharged in their classroom today, say police. A female student was shot in the head (she's in critical condition) and a male student was hit in the shoulder. Witnesses and authorities say a 15-year-old student had a gun in his backpack, and it discharged when he set the backpack down on a table, reports the Los Angeles Times.

One bullet struck both students, and the student who owned the backpack then ran from the classroom with it, setting off reports of a gunman at large at Gardena High School. He went into another classroom to hide before eventually surrendering to police. Click for more.
