Hawaii's governor never said he couldn't find President Obama's birth certificate, says the journalist who said otherwise last week. In fact, celebrity journalist Mike Evans now says that he hasn't even talked to Gov. Neil Abercrombie since he took office. Evans' excuse? Radio fatigue. “I was on 34 radio stations that morning. That was the only station where I said, instead of saying ‘the hospital said there’s no birth certificate’ I misspoke and said Neil said that,” Evans told Fox News. “I misspoke and I apologize for that. I apologize to Neil.”
Evans, who was a good friend of the Hawaii governor back in the '80s, said on Minnesota’s KQRS radio last week that Abercrombie told him directly that the state could not find Obama's birth certificate. But now Evans is retracting that claim, saying he called the governor's office for comment, but they never got back to him. “Only this I can you tell you is 100% fact: that Neil never told me there was no birth certificate,” Evans says. “I never talked to him.”
