It was the end of an era for the singing Osmond family with the death yesterday of patriarch George Osmond, who launched the musical careers of his children during a family trip to Disneyland 45 years ago, the Los Angeles Times reports. Osmond died at his Utah home of apparent complications of old age.

"He was a man of integrity, of honor," tearful daughter Marie told Entertainment Tonight. Osmond, a devout Mormon and WWII veteran, worked as a real estate broker, insurance salesman and postmaster before managing his children's squeaky-clean pop music careers. He is survived by 9 children, 55 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. (More George Osmond stories.)
