Assange Threatens to Sue Guardian

Julian Assange maybe be dedicated to exposing government communications, but when others communicate information about him that he dislikes, he's apparently not so open. Assange is threatening to sue the Guardian newspaper for libel; the Independent reports that he's believed to be upset that a book published by the newspaper claims he was opposed to redacting names in WikiLeaks releases about the war in Afghanistan, saying anyone harmed because they were named would "deserve it."

"The Guardian book serialization contains malicious libels. We will be taking action," read a tweet thought to be written by Assange. The Guardian says it has not received any legal noticed yet. "The irony of an organization dedicated to the free and open flow of information threatening to sue a newspaper will be lost on no one," said a spokeswoman for the Guardian.
