A Los Angeles teen has confessed to killing his mother, dismembering her, and storing the body parts in a freezer, police say. Moises Meraz-Espinoza allegedly kept the remains stored for a week before walking into a police station and turning himself in, ABC News reports.

"She was afraid of him," the family's landlord says. "The neighbors said they would fight. They had problems because he would go out at night. People were worried something might happen." Moises kept the landlord out of the family home when he arrived to replace the kitchen sink during a routine repair. "I think because he didn't want me to see all the blood," said the landlord. The teen had been depressed and acting strangely since his girlfriend was hit by a car and killed last fall, family members tell KTLA.
