The Grammys are made up of a whopping 98 categories, which means a bunch of awards are handed out before the main event kicks off. E! lists five big surprises that have already happened:

  1. No sweep for Eminem: The very first award—for Short Form Music Video—went to Lady Gaga, who won for "Bad Romance," dashing Eminem's chances of going 10-for-10.

  1. Glee is no match for Jeff Bridges: The award for Best Compilation Soundtrack went to Crazy Heart, not Glee's The Music: Volume 1.
  2. No Beyonce/Gaga win: One of the hottest collaborations of the year lost to "Imagine" by Hancock, Seal, Jeff Beck, and friends in the Pop Collaboration With Vocals category.
