Another day, another controversial soundbite from Rush Limbaugh. Yesterday, the radio show host took on the subject of New York’s racial anti-abortion billboard, calling New York City “the abortion capital of the world” and bemoaning, in particular, the “60% abortion rate among black women in New York City.” He went into a rage over the fact that “liberals” and “leftists” are the ones running Planned Parenthood and placing clinics “in black neighborhoods.” And then he got to his most controversial line—likely for the simple reason, writes Jon Bershad on Mediaite, that Limbaugh knew it would create a scandal.

“My God, folks, this is, this is, well, this is intolerable,” Limbaugh said, before laughing and continuing, “Well, I don’t know if we should go that far. Planned Parenthood, doing the job the Klan could never finish? Is that what you think?” As Bershad points out, “Not only does [Limbaugh] laugh, he phrases his perfect quote as if it already were a freaking blog headline! That guy knows exactly what he wants. So, yeah, here’s your outraged blog post, Rush. That was a ridiculous thing to say. But, come on, you knew that, didn’t you?” (More Planned Parenthood stories.)
