NBC execs are reportedly preparing for a tomorrow without Today host Meredith Vieira. The host is said to be considering leaving the top-rated morning show when her contract expires in December. Viera, 57, is tired of the demanding schedule and wants to spend more time with her husband, who has multiple sclerosis, according to sources. "There is going to be an opening; she’s done," a source tells the Hollywood Reporter.
Vieira left ABC's The View in 2006 to replace Katie Couric on Today. If she does leave this fall, Today news anchor Ann Curry is likely to replace her as Matt Lauer's co-anchor, insiders tell TV Guide. Today anchor Natalie Morales, Washington correspondent Savannah Guthrie, and CNBC's Erin Burnett are also leading candidates to fill Vieira's shoes, according to Entertainment Tonight. "The Today show anchors are currently under contract and firmly in place," NBC said in a statement. (More NBC stories.)
