Crime / Lashanda Armstrong Suicide Mom Updated Facebook Before Plunge 'This is it,' Lashanda Armstrong typed on BlackBerry By Matt Cantor, Newser Staff Posted Apr 15, 2011 7:15 AM CDT Copied People attend a vigil at the boat ramp where Lashanda Armstrong drove her minivan into the Hudson River on Tuesday night, in Newburgh, NY, Thursday, April 14, 2011. (AP Photo/Mike Groll) Just before her death, a mother who drowned herself and her children used her BlackBerry to update her Facebook status. It read: “I'm sorry everyone forgive me please for what I'm gonna do…This is it!!!" Less than half an hour later, Lashanda Armstrong drove off a pier into the Hudson River, reports Adrian Chen for Gawker. "As with so many tragedies these days, the banality of Armstrong's farewell status update makes her choice that much more incomprehensible," writes Chen. The Wall Street Journal reports that Armstrong's family had noticed signs of paranoia lately; she reportedly believed she was being watched, and claimed pages had gone missing from her diary.
