Hosni Mubarak's sons Gamal and Alaa are now behind bars in the same prison that held perceived enemies of their father's regime. Hosni himself remains in a military hospital but is expected to join his sons at the Tora Farm prison when he's physically able, reports the New York Times. The Mubaraks haven't been charged with anything but remain in custody while an investigation continues into corruption and human rights abuses.
"Bear in mind they are very broken,” says a prison official of Gamal (inmate No. 23) and Alaa (No. 24). “They do everything they are asked. They don’t raise their voices.” Add this to the family blues: An Egyptian court declared today that Hosni Mubarak's once-mighty National Democratic Party would be dissolved and its assets seized. “I think that Gamal is worse than Alaa," says the prison official. "He looks a lot more in shock, and he lost half of his weight. He eats very little, doesn’t sleep very well." (More Gamal Mubarak stories.)
