NY Inmate Breaks Up Guard Fight
"An incident like this really overshadows the professionalism and dedication that the vast majority of our jail management staff brings to work every day," an official said.   (Shutterstock)

Embarrassed officials in upstate New York say an inmate was injured when he stepped in to separate two guards fighting over food. The inmate lost a tooth when he tried to stop the guards fighting over a bag of chips, workers at Erie County Correction Facility tell the Buffalo News. The correction officers, who have 55 years experience between them, have been suspended with pay. Officials say the inmate intervened because he didn't want the officers to lose their jobs.
