Google is poised to enter the music business, reportedly with a cloud-computing system similar to the Amazon Cloud service announced in March, according to the Wall Street Journal. Users will be able to upload music to online "lockers" and stream the music to various devices. But because Google has not entered into licenses with the four music majors, users will not be able to download music. Google has tried to break into music before, but those attempts foundered early. An announcement is expected later today at Google's annual Google developers conference in San Francisco. (More Google stories.)
