A California mom who admitted giving her 8-year-old daughter Botox injections has lost custody of the girl. San Francisco authorities launched an investigation last week after mom Kerry Campbell discussed the injections as part of their preparation for little girl beauty pageants on Good Morning America. "I just, like, don't think wrinkles are nice on little girls," daughter Britney said on the program, even though she admitted the shots "hurt."
Kerry typically administers the Botox herself in five shots a session in three different locations on Britney's face. "The few times that we did it, it would lessen the lines," she said. A doctor contacted by ABC News said if he knew of a mother doing this to a daughter "I would be required to report her to protective services because it's maltreatment." Botox has not been deemed safe for children, he noted. He warned that Botox can drift to the throat and interfere with breathing, and could forever change the shape of a young face. Campbell told the Sun, which reported the story earlier this year, that she wished she had "the same advantages" when she was a child. (More Kerry Campbell stories.)
