If the story of the mom who gave her 8-year-old daughter Botox sounded too crazy to be true, that’s because … it’s not true. “Kerry Campbell,” who lost custody of her daughter after spinning the tale, came forward today to tell the world her name is actually Sheena Upton, and she did the whole thing for money. Upton claims UK tabloid The Sun approached her and asked her to “play the role” of Campbell for an article. She was then approached by Good Morning America and Inside Edition to do on-camera interviews for “a large fee,” TMZ reports.
The gossip site got a sworn statement from Upton, created in an attempt to regain custody, asserting she’s never given her daughter Botox, waxed her, or entered her in a pageant. UCLA also examined the girl to determine she’s never received Botox or other similar injections. Child welfare officials have returned her daughter to Upton, as long as a cousin stays with them for the time being. Of course, Jezebel notes, none of this means that Upton will be nominated for Mother of the Year anytime soon. (More Botox stories.)
