McCartney: Rolling Stones Envied Us

Who’s on top in the epic Rolling Stones-Beatles rivalry? According to possibly-biased Paul McCartney, even the Stones agreed that the Beatles were better in at least one way. “I talked to Keith Richards recently … well, a couple of years ago, and his take on it was: ‘Man, you were lucky, you guys, you had four lead singers,’ whereas the Rolling Stones only had one,” McCartney tells Radio Times in an interview obtained by the Telegraph.

“The four of us were unusual,” he continues. “We were an entity. Mick [Jagger] used to call us the Four-headed Monster." And unlike the Stones, which relied on Jagger for vocals, every single Beatle could sing. Er, almost every single Beatle: McCartney’s exact quote is, “I could sing, John could sing, George could sing, and Ringo did numbers that he could sing.
