Huguette Clark was buried today in the Bronx—but there was no funeral, and her family wasn’t allowed to attend, MSNBC reports. The copper heiress, who died at 104 after living for decades as a recluse, was buried in her family’s mausoleum. When relatives asked about attending the burial, Clark’s lawyer wouldn’t tell them what time it would happen, noting that “it was Ms. Clark's specific wishes and instructions that no funeral service or mass be held.”
Lawyer Wall Bock and Clark’s accountant are facing an investigation over Clark’s $500 million fortune, though no one’s been charged. Relatives—all descendants of her father’s first marriage—had visited their half-aunt in the past, but Bock suddenly severed ties with them about five years ago, they said, around when Clark signed her will, according to Bock. The will hasn’t emerged yet. (More Huguette Clark stories.)
