Chris Rock is backpedaling after tweeting support for comedian Tracy Morgan, reports the New York Daily News. After Morgan got in trouble for joking that he would stab his son to death if his son were gay last week, Rock initially wrote that he would not "want to live in world where Tracy Morgan can't say foul inappropriate s--t." But after some thought, Rock clarified on Twitter yesterday: "When I first heard the statement I thought it was offensive, but it also reminded me of my father saying, 'I'll kill you if you ever bring home a white girl.' But after reading everything Tracy said, Wow I get it, that s--t wasn't called for and i don't support it at all."

"Tracy Morgan is a tad off. We all know that," said Rock. "So when Tracy says something I usually don't take it anymore serious than I would a statement from Gary Busey or Flavor Flav." Rock closed with a comment linking the Morgan controversy to his own appearance at the Tony awards last night. "Now can I please go to the Tony Awards without getting my ass kicked?" he asked.
