Tom Petty to Bachmann: Don't Use My Song

He asks her to stop playing 'American Girl'

Sure, she's been in a presidential debate and has a PAC and all that, but Michele Bachmann has now truly made it to the political big leagues: A rocker wants her to stop using his song. In this case, it's Tom Petty, who objected to the use of American Girl at her formal campaign launch, reports NBC's Kelly O'Donnell (via the Los Angeles Times). His manager is working up a firmly worded letter. Petty's politics are consistent: He let Hillary Clinton use the tune in 2008, but he refused to let George W. Bush use I Won't Back Down.
