"I do believe I can win" a national election, Sarah Palin has declared to Newsweek. The latest teaser from Palin seems to indicate that she's about to go for the big shebang, but don't take that as an announcement that she's decided to run for the presidency—yet. “I think Bristol has made up her mind, and Bristol wants me to run for president,” Palin said. “But we’re still thinking about it. I’m still thinking about it.” Bristol is one vote, but if it "came down to the family just saying, 'Please, Mom, don't do this,' then that would be the deal-killer for me," she adds.

But Palin hasn't raised a bunch of wusses, she notes, and apparently her children are made of tough-enough stuff to withstand a grueling run for the top job. “My kids know that life isn’t supposed to be easy, and it’s certainly not fair,” she said. “And they know that, even on their end, they have to make some sacrifices for the greater good.” (More Sarah Palin 2012 stories.)
