The first, but almost certainly not the last, former News of the World reporter has come forward with stories of her time at the disgraced tabloid. The US-based journalist says that during her stint at the British paper, she was ordered to catch Mike Tyson in a cocaine orgy. Using a tiny camera staffers stitched onto her jacket, she managed to get photos of Tyson and his posse instead with some strippers. The paper's editors then paired her photos with a fabricated story about an orgy the reporter never witnessed. "They made it look as if Tyson was in the midst of an orgy in the lobby," she tells the Hollywood Reporter.
The tabloid's newsroom "was always shrouded in secrecy," she recalls. "Reporters never talked to one another, much less discussed where they were getting stories," and "I could never put my finger on how some people were privy to the most private facts about public figures." The journalist remembers receiving a surprised look when she asked her colleague how he managed to get the inside scoop on details of the Heather Mills-Paul McCartney split. "I now can guess how the reporter gained such private information," she says. (More News of the World stories.)
