Grinch Returns to Broadway Despite Strike

Little girls and their parents flocked to this morning's reopening of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! after a 2-week hiatus, the Times reports. A stagehands' strike has shuttered most Broadway productions, but Grinch tickets went on sale after a judge ordered the show, which has a separate deal with the union, reopened because of its short holiday run.

The musical version of the beloved holiday story is one of just nine Broadway shows currently running. Union officials and performers are hoping for a speedy resolution to the strike. “The theater is filled with imagery that moves people,” Actors Equity's executive director says. “This is what Broadway is supposed to look like.” (More Broadway stories.)
