Money | Whole Foods Epic Resignation Sparks Slew of Whole Foods Complaints Gawker hears from others after viral letter By Matt Cantor Posted Jul 29, 2011 3:40 PM CDT Copied A Whole Foods store in Massachusetts. (AP Photo/Steven Senne) One ex-Whole Foods worker’s disgusted letter of resignation has opened up the floodgates: Dozens of employees, current and former, have written to Gawker to reveal the worst of what goes on behind the scenes at the stores. A few choice cuts: “It must've been one of the most appalling experiences of my life when I spent a day working in the Bakery, and at closing time threw away enough food to feed a hungry mass.” A worker with cancer who was repeatedly denied days off “got fired and lost her insurance.” When a worker was late after a car plowed into him, “The HR lady has the audacity to tell me that I should have given myself enough time from leaving my place to be hit by a car.” “A plate at the hot bar pretty much means the trots later.” “You better be a head-nodding bobblehead willing to agree with all that is shoved in your face or you are pretty much blacklisted.” Meanwhile, the original letter writer says he never intended his missive to go public.
