American hikers Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal were arrested in Iran exactly two years ago, but despite hopes for an immediate release after a hearing today, their lawyer now says a verdict will be announced within a week. Today's was the final court hearing in the case, with the hikers and their lawyer presenting closing arguments, the AP reports. The lawyer says he is still hopeful that, even if the judge finds Bauer and Fattal guilty, they will be sentenced to time served and set free. (More Josh Fattal stories.)
