No sooner does Rick Perry join the GOP field than rumors surface of a potential Paul Ryan candidacy. He is "strongly considering a run," writes Stephen F. Hayes in the Weekly Standard, who quotes an insider as saying that Ryan is "coming around" and is discussing the possibility with his family while vacationing with them in Colorado. A spokesman for the congressman, however, said today that he remains in the "no" camp, reports the Hill. "While grateful for the continued support and encouragement, Congressman Ryan has not changed his mind."

Ryan helped stoke the rumors himself by telling a radio host on Friday that he's not sure the current crop of candidates is serious enough about the debt and entitlement reform. And Karl Rove ramped up speculation on Sean Hannity's show last night by saying that Ryan, Chris Christie, and Sarah Palin remain possible candidates, notes Fox News. (More Paul Ryan stories.)
