It's August, so that means it's time for the president to start ... campaigning? President Obama's bus trip to the Midwest talking up his plans sure looks like he's on the stump. "Seriously, Obama's back in campaign mode already?" asks an incredulous Jon Stewart on the Daily Show. But the White House insists, nah, it's just officials business. "Riiiight, it's not a campaign trip," snorts Stewart. "I'm sure the president just had some frequent Greyhound miles he had to use by the end of August."
So what's the strategy this time around? "You know, Mr. President, last time you ran with the 'audacity of hope, change we can believe in'" campaign, notes Stewart. "I'm not sure that's going to fly" now, he adds. "What's this campaign's 'Yes, we can?'" Hmm, notes Stewart after running a few clips of Obama complaining about a tough Congress: "I guess this time around the message is, ''I thought we could, but it turns out the other guys are assholes.'"
