The New York Post takes great pleasure in recounting the unbelievable-sounding story of a carjacker who met his match in the form of two "plucky kids" and their "ferocious," "feisty" toy poodle. It all started when dad Sebastian Russo left 7-year-old John and 5-year-old Robert in the family van with their dog, Colette, as he ran into a store to buy a leash Tuesday morning. He accidentally left the doors unlocked (and the car running), and the would-be thief hopped right inand took off. "Do you know you're in the wrong car?" piped up John.

When the thief started rustling through the change tray, one of the boys said, "Don't take our money!" Meanwhile, Colette yapped incessantly from the front seat. It wasn't long before the carjacker had had enough: He asked the boys where they lived and drove them right home, prompting Russo's confused wife to call him wondering where he was. ("Why yes," writes Joe Coscarelli in New York, "this is the plot of a children's movie starring Tom Arnold from 1996.") Russo says there are no hard feelings: "How mad can we be at him? He returned the car." (More car theft stories.)
